BISHOP - SOUTH LAKE
RIDE OVERVIEW
South Lake is no joke....rated as the #11 hardest climb in the country, you will have to put some effort in to tick this one off your list. Is it worth it? Yes.
The road out to South Lake had a major rebuild in May of 2020 and the new road is excellent. The ride is still super hard but new asphalt is always a treat.
Insider tip....save some effort for the last mile, South Lake makes you work the hardest at the end of the climb and it is no gimme.
It is also worth noting that the descent down 168 is long and fast - make sure your brakes are in good condition and practice that braking modulation everyone talks about, you will need it.
LINK-UPS + NEARBY RIDES
This is a pretty big day out but if you want more, a great add-on would be to continue up 168 to Lake Sabrina. Or you could do a Plant Four lap after your descent.
